Thinking big, the right email metrics to track and getting out of your own way for good

In today's edition of EmpowHER Business, brought to you by EBA.

Weekly newsletter brought to your inbox every Wednesday, by your friends at Elite Blog Academy®—full of valuable insider marketing tips, tricks and inspiration to help you keep pushing forward when the days get long.

It’s no secret that running an online business is tough work. From the never-ending to-do list to all the new tactics that seem to pop up every day that you have to somehow fit into your plans, it’s enough to make anyone’s head spin.

And while the work you’re doing is very important, it’s so easy to get so focused on what needs to be done today that we forget about tomorrow.

But here’s the thing—when we get so caught up in the day-to-day, it’s like we’re spinning our wheels without actually going anywhere. And if we don’t know where we want to go, we’ll just stay there, caught in the day-to-day, spinning our wheels forever.

That’s why it’s so important to think BIG.

So what does thinking big actually mean when it comes to your online business, and how can you make sure you’re setting time aside for this big-picture thinking? We’re sharing that in today’s EBA blog post, Why You Can’t Afford NOT to Think Big. If you’ve been feeling bogged down in the day-to-day or know you could use a refresher on what your big-picture strategy is all about, this one is for you.

POWER MOVES

Are you tracking these metrics?

So you’re spending your time on social media getting people to like and follow you. But then what? How do you bring them into your actual business? (Remember, your Instagram account is not your business.)

The truth is, that email marketing is still our favorite tool for growing your online business. But how do you know if your campaigns are truly hitting the mark? While open rates and click-through rates (CTRs) are often the first metrics checked, they just scratch the surface.

Here's why diving deeper into your email marketing stats is crucial for success:

Unveiling the "Why" Behind the Numbers

Imagine this: You see a low open rate. Panic sets in! But hold on. Analyzing other metrics can provide valuable context. Are your subject lines compelling? Is your list segmented to target the right audience? By looking at bounce rates (undelivered emails) and unsubscribe rates, you can identify potential issues with deliverability or content relevance.

Optimizing for Engagement, Not Just Opens

Clicks are great, but what happens after someone clicks? Tracking click-through rates to specific landing pages tells you if your emails are piquing interest in the right areas. Furthermore, analyze actions taken after the click—did they subscribe to your podcast, sign up for a webinar or make a purchase? These deeper insights reveal the true effectiveness of your emails in driving conversions.

A/B Testing: The Key to Continuous Improvement

Not sure which subject line will resonate more? Test it!

A/B testing allows you to send variations of your email to different segments of your list. By comparing open rates, CTRs and conversion rates, you can identify the clear winner and optimize future campaigns for better results.

Segmentation is Your Superpower

One-size-fits-all emails are a recipe for low engagement. Analyze demographics, interests and purchase history to segment your email list. This allows you to personalize your messages, increasing relevance and driving higher open rates, clicks and conversions.

Embrace the Power of Data-Driven Decisions

By analyzing your email marketing stats, you can move beyond guesswork. You'll gain valuable insights into what resonates with your audience, allowing you to tailor campaigns for maximum impact. This data-driven approach ensures that your email marketing efforts are constantly evolving and optimized for success, ultimately giving you the edge in the competitive digital landscape.

1. Embrace continuous learning: Devote dedicated time each week to exploring industry trends. Subscribe to relevant blogs, listen to podcasts and attend webinars to stay ahead of the curve. One of our company’s core values is Learn & Grow, and it is a game-changer to make it a priority!

2. Experiment like a scientist: Don't be afraid to test new marketing strategies or content formats. Run A/B tests to see what resonates with your audience and track your results. Analyze the data to identify winning approaches and adjust accordingly. Remember, there are no mistakes—only lessons!

3. Build a network of support: Surround yourself with other online entrepreneurs who understand the challenges you’re facing. Join online communities, attend industry events and cultivate relationships where you can share experiences, ideas, and support. Our Powerhouse program is full of online business owners eager to scale and grow their businesses, and they cheer each other on every step of the way!

4. Develop a "Plan B" mindset: Regularly brainstorm potential pivots for your business model or strategy. Consider alternative revenue streams or content formats that could be implemented if needed.

5. Celebrate agility:  Acknowledge and reward yourself and your team for being adaptable. Celebrate successful pivots, no matter how small, to reinforce the importance of embracing change.

By becoming more adaptable, you can transform the online world's constant flux into a springboard for success. So, buckle up, embrace the ride and leverage adaptability to stay ahead of the curve and reach your ultimate goals.

SHE MEANS BUSINESS

Today we want you to meet Mary Thompson of Flight Deck Life School. Mary has been in almost every iteration of our business programs over the years. She has developed a course and gets booked for speaking engagements, but in the past years, she just hasn’t been making the progress or seeing the traction she was hoping for.

But she also recognized more recently as she was completing her work in our Powerhouse program that she has had some resistance in the past and that she was getting in her own way.

So this year, she committed to a different path. She is doing the work, she is implementing everything that Ruth tells her to do—and she is moving forward without questioning each step of the way.

And as a result, she tells us:

Powerhouse has absolutely kicked my butt in the very best way. I think I've made more actual progress in this last phase alone than any other timeframe of my EBA history.

As coaches, this whole idea of getting in your own way is something that we see so often. And we get it. Building a business is hard. It’s like your baby and it’s a big deal to let go and trust a process that you may not always understand at first.

But our program is structured in a way that you are forced to step aside, follow the steps, and bring your business to life. Just like Mary is doing.

If you can relate to this and know that you need coaching and accountability to make big progress in your business this year finally, then register now for our on-demand training, Firestarter. Not only will it walk you through our strategy path but this training is the only way to get into EBA Powerhouse while we still have introductory prices.

MARKETING FUN FACT

Content marketing has been around for centuries. Ancient civilizations like the Romans and the Egyptians used content-based approaches to promote their products and services.

For instance, historical wall paintings and inscriptions have been found to promote various goods, events, and even political campaigns!
