POWER MOVES

Is it better to be tactical or strategic?

Do you know the key to a business that’s not only successful but sustainable?

Understanding tactics vs. strategy (hint: they’re not the same!).

And so many business owners miss the mark here. They get so focused on all the new things to try out (tactics) without an actual plan on how those pieces work together (strategy). Or even worse they focus on one without the other.

Think of strategy as your roadmap. It defines your ideal customer, their needs and how you’ll take them through a customer journey that leads to transformation and raving fans. Tactics are the tools you use on that journey—email marketing, short-form content, your podcast, SEO optimization, etc.

Why are both essential? Here's the truth: a tactic without a strategy is meaningless. You might generate a buzz, but it fizzles fast if it doesn't reach the right people or align with your long-term goals.

On the flip side, a brilliant strategy falls flat without tactical execution.

The magic happens when you combine them. Your strategy steers your tactics, ensuring each social post, email or ad resonates with your target audience and builds towards your goals.

This strategic-tactical harmony creates a sustainable online business.

You're not chasing fads, you're building a loyal audience that grows with you.

MINDSET MATTERS

Leaning into the uncomfortable

Last week we had the privilege of gathering with some of our Powerhouse beta members for an amazing (and intense!) day together.

They have been working hard through the program since January, and this day was meant as an opportunity to dig even deeper and gain clarity over their business and what it takes to succeed in online business.

In the room of almost 100 Powerhouses, we had a great mix of students with different niches, different phases of their business and different challenges. But one challenge we saw over and over was that fear of stepping outside of your comfort zone. Whether it was the choice to raise the ceiling even higher on your goals or even coming to an event like this period—our students pushed past their comfort and made things happen.

And for all of the amazing wins we saw, there were probably just as many who let the fear of leaving their comfort zone hold them back. We see this all the time in the online business space.

Maybe it's hitting "publish" on a blog post you poured your heart into, pitching a collaboration to a seemingly out-of-reach brand or posting a reel to Instagram for the first time.

But here's the thing: that feeling of discomfort? It's often a signal you're on the right track.

Here's how leaning into the uncomfortable can be your secret weapon for online business growth:

  • Growth lies outside your comfort zone. Think about it—if you only ever do what you're already good at, how will you ever improve? Stepping outside your comfort zone forces you to learn new things, develop new skills and ultimately become a more well-rounded entrepreneur.

  • Confidence is built, not given. The more you push yourself to do things that make you nervous, the more you realize you're capable of handling anything. This boosts your confidence, which is key for attracting your dream customer, making sales and putting yourself out there authentically.

  • It sparks new ideas. Discomfort can spark creativity! When you're forced to think outside the box, you come up with fresh ideas and unique approaches that can set you apart from the competition.

So, the next time that looming task or scary opportunity pops up, don't shy away.

Embrace the discomfort!

It might just be the push you need to take your online business to the next level. Remember, even the most successful entrepreneurs were once uncomfortable beginners who took a chance.
