POWER MOVES

You need a focus day

If you have a major goal or project this year, but it keeps getting interrupted by the noise of everyday life, this hack is one you’ll want to test out in your own calendar.

Ruth herself was feeling the struggle a few months ago—struggling to keep up with her most important projects and constantly interrupted by meetings, requests and other demands.

She shared on her Instagram a scheduling hack that has completely changed her productivity this year and unlocked a level of productivity she hadn’t experienced in a while.

Inspired by the book 10x is Easier than 2X by Dan Sullivan with Dr. Benjamin Hardy, Ruth started blocking out Focus Days weekly.

The main idea is that you block out a day on your calendar and give it ONE sole focus, nothing else. Silence other apps, don’t check email, and don’t do any other tasks not related to your one focus. By giving yourself the freedom to focus on ONE thing, you’re able to finish the project faster and unlock a level of creativity that only comes from silencing the noise.

For Ruth, she has dedicated 3 days each week as focus days—where she blocks out the entire day to focus on only her biggest goals and important projects. No phone calls, meetings, emails, etc. And it has been a game-changer.

If you’re struggling with the same noise, we highly recommend you try Focus Days—and then reply to let us know how it goes. And be sure to check out Ruth’s Instagram for other online business tips and words of wisdom!

MINDSET MATTERS

Embracing your unique path

In today’s world, it is so easy to fall into the trap of comparing our lives to those of others. Whether it’s scrolling through social media and seeing everyone’s seemingly perfect lives or watching the success of our colleagues and friends, the urge to compare is sometimes hard to resist!

But constantly comparing your journey to someone else’s is only going to hold you back and often leads to feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt and ultimately unnecessary pressure. Your journey is your own—shaped by your unique experiences, circumstances and aspirations—and you need to celebrate it!

Here are some actionable steps to help you conquer the comparison trap:

  1. Mindful scrolling: When you catch yourself scrolling through social media and feeling that twinge of comparison, take a breath and practice mindfulness. Remind yourself that what people share online is often the highlight reel, not the behind-the-scenes reality.

  2. Gratitude journaling: Cultivate an attitude of gratitude by keeping a journal where you jot down things you're thankful for. Shifting your focus from what you lack to what you have can be a powerful antidote to comparison.

  3. Define your own success: Take the time to define what success means to you. Is it about personal growth, fulfillment or making a positive impact? Understanding your own metrics of success can shield you from the allure of comparing apples to oranges.

  4. Limit social media exposure: Consider setting boundaries around your social media use. Whether it's a daily time limit or designating specific "no-scroll zones," creating space from the comparison-inducing world of social media can work wonders for your mental well-being.

  5. Celebrate others' success: Instead of feeling envious when others succeed, practice celebrating their victories. Shifting your mindset from competition to celebration can turn the comparison trap into a source of inspiration and joy.

  6. Focus on personal growth: Redirect your energy towards self-improvement and personal growth. Set goals that are meaningful to you and work on becoming the best version of yourself, rather than trying to measure up to someone else's journey.

Remember, life's not a competition; it's a journey of self-discovery and growth. Embrace your own path and celebrate what sets you apart from the rest.

SHE MEANS BUSINESS

This week we wanted to put the spotlight on Melissa Brock of College Money Tips

Melissa is so passionate about guiding people toward a debt-free degree using her expertise in college admission and money principles. She worked as a money editor and spent 12 years in college admission, so it's a perfect fit. She truly wants to help as many people as she can.

But while Melissa knew what she wanted to do. She didn’t know how. She didn't have a direction for where she wanted to take her business.

In the beginning, she was reluctant to be the face of her business. She shied away from being on camera. She was not chomping at the bit to host live webinars. But during her time in our programs, she has experienced firsthand that each step of our program is assigned for a very specific reason—and she’s taken the leap with faith to follow the process.

When asked if, as a veteran of our programs, she had any advice for new business owners following Ruth’s path she said “Do whatever Ruth tells you — no ifs, ands or buts!”

And we love this because one thing we talk about so often in our programs is that you cannot grow when you are comfortable. True growth comes only when you are doing what is uncomfortable. And honestly, many of the things you will be asked to do as you grow your business will make you very uncomfortable.

But that is also why having a proven path to follow is such a game-changer.

By following the path laid out in front of her, Melissa now has over 1,000 subscribers and has made over $1,000 in her business so far this year. But not only that, she is SO excited to create her new offer, in her own words, ”I'm literally bouncing off the walls!”

She has undergone a revival in her business and we cannot wait to see what comes next.

Her final words of encouragement are to:

“Just keep going. You never know what's just on the other side of the hole you've been digging. The diamond is within reach.”
